UKM student who fell into ravine at Bukit Tabur dies

KUALA LUMPUR: A 25-year-old student who fell 60m into a ravine while hiking at Bukit Tabur died of her injuries on Tuesday.
Solihah Abd Rahman of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia was airlifted to Hospital Kuala Lumpur at about 4pm due to the injuries.
She was admitted at the emergency ward in an unconscious state and pronounced dead at about 4.30pm.
Solihah had gone hiking with her sister and a group of friends earlier in the day. She was reported to have fallen from a cliff at 10.40am.
Rescuers reached the location and brought her out of the ravine at 2pm.
Solihah, the third of five siblings, lived in Pantai Dalam with her friends. She was working on a part-time basis at a bank while studying for her Masters degree in economics.
"Solihah loves outdoor activities but I did not expect her to have gone mountain climbing," said an elder sister, who declined to be named, at the hospital.
On Jan 5, Noor Hasmahani Hashim injured her back when she fell down a 10m slope near checkpoint 11 and landed on some tree branches.
Last month, teacher Ng Pee Tat, 32, died from injuries after he fell several metres down a steep slope.
Previous fatalities at Bukit Tabur involved two medical specialists who were both experienced trekkers.
Bukit Tabur, located in Taman Melawati, is about 500m above sea level and popular with hikers as it is located close to the city and offers a panaromic view of Kuala Lumpur.
