ts Police checking the bodies of the three criminals shot dead along the DUKE highway today KUALA LUMPUR: Police gunned down three robbers near the Sentul toll plaza on the Damansara-Ulu Klang (DUKE) highway after chasing after them from Klang. Selangor deputy police chief datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar said the robbers earlier robbed a woman who had made a large withdrawal from a bank in Bayu Perdana, Klang this morning. “As she was driving off,  two Proton Wira blocked her car at the front and rear, and a man on a motorcycle then swerved in to smash her window and grab her handbag containing the cash," he said. He said the state police immediately launched a dragnet and chased the suspects' cars but the men  managed to slip away. "At 3.15pm, one of the Proton Wira was spotted at the Sentul Besar toll plaza on Duke Highway but when approached, the suspects open fire and our men responded. "Three men believed to be Indonesians in their 20's and 30's were killed in the firefight," he said. It is learnt that a gang using the same modus operandi grabbed RM35,000 at a location in Selangor three days ago. It was learnt that the shooting occurred along the Gombak-bound stretch about 3.30pm leading to a traffic congestion. mDAccording to a Lebuhraya Duta-Ulu Kelang spokesman, as at 5pm, the traffic flow was getting smoother after the highway authority had opened up two lanes along the stretch. He advised motorists to avoid the highway if possible. "For those already on the highway, there is no other alternative routes,"  he said. When asked about shooting case, the spokesman declined to comment. Police have yet to issue an official statement on the shooting.  Unconfirmed report said that the police had earlier followed the trio who were inside a black Wira from Klang after they were said to have robbed a bank there.
