Setia Alam shooting case: Suspect shot dead by police in Pulau Ketam

KUALA LUMPUR: The suspect in the shooting case at a shopping mall in Setia Alam, Shah Alam on February 8 was shot dead after exchanging gunfire with police in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the local man, aged in his 30s, was shot in an operation at around 3am.
The raid was carried out by the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) together with the Selangor CID at a hotel in Pulau Ketam, Klang. During the raid, there was a shootout between the police and criminals in a hotel room.
"The police team managed to shoot dead a man and found two firearms loaded with bullets with the suspect.
"Checks found that the wanted suspect has nine criminal records, including one drug crime case and seven samun crime cases.
"The suspect is also believed to be involved in a shooting incident at a Setia City Mall shopping mall recently," he said in a statement.
In the incident at 10pm on Feb 8, the suspect reportedly fired four shots at a man who worked as a cleaner at the mall while on Level P1.
The victim, who was injured in his buttocks and legs, escaped and entered the mall while the suspect fled to Level P2.
The suspect then fired several more shots and hit the glass door and stairwell mirror before restraining a car.
The suspect pointed a gun at the victim, who was also a visitor to the mall, and forced the man to take him out of the complex.
The suspect released the victim and got off the side of the highway in Pandamaran Klang and fled.
