Super League champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) earned their spot in the Asian Champions League (ACL) last 16 in emphatic fashion, beating South Korea's Pohang Steelers 5-2 at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri on Tuesday.
The Southern Tigers only needed a point to progress but made no mistake in front of their home fans, brushing aside three-time ACL winners Pohang.
JDT's goals came from Oscar Aribas (37th minute), Bergson da Silva (52nd), Arif Aiman Hanapi (56th), Jese Rodriguez (90+7) and Jorge Obregon (90+15).
Pohang replied through Lee Ho Jae (27th) and Kang Hyeon Je (80th), but it wasn't enough to deny JDT's passage into the knockout stage.
