KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who was treated at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) after being diagnosed with COVID-19, has been allowed to return to Kajang Prison today.

According to Najib's Special Officer, Muhamad Mukhlis Maghribi, the second COVID-19 screening test conducted on the former Pekan Member of Parliament on Friday showed a negative result.

"However, HKL is still monitoring Datuk Seri Najib Razak's health until November 5.

"After the doctor made a final examination on that date, he was allowed to return to Kajang Prison," he said in a statement on Sunday night.

At the same time, Muhamad Mukhlis expressed his gratitude to the prison authorities, especially Kajang Prison and Kajang Prison medical officers who are concerned about the health and welfare of the former UMNO President.

"An appreciation also goes to HKL who have provided the best possible treatment," he added.

Previously the media reported that Muhamad Mukhlis informed Najib that he was admitted to hospital after being confirmed positive for COVID-19, and was in a stable condition.

He said Najib was rushed to hospital from prison after complaining of fever.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Health, Dr Zaliha Mustafa in a press conference in Parliament, also confirmed the health problems that Najib is facing.
