Bukit Jalil National Stadium (SNBJ) field seemed to be damaged badly after the Coldplay concert.

Kuala Lumpur: The Bukit Jalil National Stadium (SNBJ) field seemed to be damaged badly after the  Coldplay concert.

The situation involved is painful to the eyes as it was damaged in just one day.

The misfortune that befell the SNBJ field got the attention of many parties, especially the owner of Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim who shared the latest picture of home of Harimau Malaya stadium on his Instagram.

Although he did not write any statement regarding the condition of the SNBJ field, it is clear that the situation must have disappointed Tunku Ismail because he is the individual who spent millions of ringgit to change the SNBJ grass to Zeon Zoysia grass for the comfort of the Harimau Malaya performing at the venue.

The new field uses Zeon Zoysia grass to replace Cow Grass type grass and is estimated to cost up to RM1.4 million.

Zeon Zoysia grass is a hardy type with rainy weather and heat resistance compared to cow grass which is no longer suitable for modern football.

For the record, the quality of the field at SNBJ, which has just been upgraded, received strong criticism from many quarters after the grass came off at several parts of the field during the Pestabola Merdeka 2023 tournament, last September.

However, the field conditions seemed to be at a satisfactory level in the first match of Group D of the 2026 World Cup/2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers which saw Malaysia defeat Krygyzstan 4-3.   The condition of the SNBJ pitch was praised for looking better and tidier than when there was no more severe grass torn up
