KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) announced the appointment of Azman Haji Tambi Chik as the new Chief Executive Officer of the national bureau, effective 20 November 2023.
MyCEB in a statement informed Azman who has extensive experience and knowledge in aspects of corporate management from various industries including tourism and hospitality, and technology will be a valuable addition to the leadership team.
In the meantime, Azman informed that he is interested in implementing a culture of empowerment and diversity in organizations and industries, ensuring that all business event participants leave a sustainable legacy in a dynamic sector.
"I am happy to be given the opportunity to represent such a large and important industry as Business Events. I will work closely with members and stakeholders in research, policy, skills, training, events and advocacy with the Government in providing impactful support and services," he said in a statement.
He added that he also expressed his plan to lead the business event industry into a new era.
"We are in a position to drive the business event industry with industry advancements available. There are many opportunities out there to take advantage of as Malaysia holds a key position in steering the business events industry for the region.
"With destination resources and expertise supported by digitization and technological advancement, we are ready to invest in attracting quality international events and delegations," he said.
With a career experience of over 30 years, Azman has served with renowned organizations such as Damansara Holdings Berhad (DBhd), a Bumiptera status company listed on the main board of Bursa Malaysia.
He has also led and strengthened the Corporate Communications Group at Johor Corporation (JCorp). Also played an important role in managing the Malaysian Seri Hotel Chain (RHSM), where he successfully introduced guest satisfaction indicators in increasing the company's profitability.
At the same time, he has held various senior management positions and has contributed significantly in facilitating new technologies for various start-up companies in Malaysia.
