APEC 2023: PM joins dialogue with 21 world leaders

SAN FRANCISCO: Malaysian Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today participated in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders' Informal Dialogue which took place at the Moscone Centre, here, Thursday evening local time.
It was chaired by the President of the United States (US) Joe Biden, attended by all the leaders representing the 21 economic members of APEC.
In addition, Anwar is scheduled to attend the APEC Business Council (ABAC) Dialogue with APEC Economic Leaders which will be hosted by United States Vice President Kamala Harris.
The Prime Minister will also participate in the Informal Dialogue with Columbia, Fiji and India and the Second Meeting of Leaders of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) today.
Anwar is then scheduled to attend the APEC Economic Leaders dinner hosted by Biden.
The US and Malaysia are among the 12 founding members of APEC which was established in 1989.
Other countries are Australia, Brunei, Canada, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
This was followed by China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mexico and Papua New Guinea in 1993.
Chile joined in 1994 and Peru, Russia and Vietnam in 1998, bringing the full membership to 21.
APEC has nearly three billion people, 62 percent of the world's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and 48 percent of world trade in 2021.
