Melaka police received 14 police reports regarding a Cambodian woman who uttered words touching the sensitivity of the Malay community recently.
Melaka Police Chief, Datuk Zainol Samah said that the report was made by various parties after a video lasting one minute and seven seconds was uploaded by an account owner showing the woman in question saying that Malays are lazy last Sunday.
According to him, following the police report, the Melaka Criminal Investigation Department has opened investigation papers under Section 505 of the Penal Code for issuing statements with the intention of favoring a certain race.
"The case is also being investigated in accordance with Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
"The police also advise the public not to make any speculations that may cause concern among the community," he said in a statement here, on Tuesday.
Earlier, it went viral on social media about a video recording showing the woman who runs a wholesale tailoring business holding a live stream at a Muslim clothing store.
Through the recording, he claimed that Cambodians are smarter and more diligent in business than the lazy Malays.
