GOMBAK: The body of an elderly man believed to have been murdered was found in a car in Jalan Selayang Baru, Batu Caves here on Tuesday.
Gombak District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Zainal Mohamed Mohamed said, the information was received by Pondok Selayang Baru Police Station after receiving a call from the public at 10.15am.
According to him, a police team from the Gombak District Police Headquarters (IPD) along with the forensic team of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and the Kuala Lumpur Hospital Forensic Department (HKL) were rushed to the scene of the incident.
"The victim covered in blood was found in the driver's side of a Perodua Kancil type car in the open area in front of a shopping center.
"Inspection found that the victim, aged in his 70s and with an address in Selayang Baru, was found fully clothed with serious injuries to his neck," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
He said that a sharp object was also found at the scene of the incident and the victim's body was taken to HKL for an autopsy.
In the meantime, Zainal Mohamed said, acting on information, on the same day at about 4pm, the police from the Gombak IPD Criminal Investigation Division arrested a man in his 40s who is a permanent resident around Selayang Baru.
"The motive of the incident is still under investigation and the suspect has been remanded for seven days until May 16 to be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code," he said.
He added that the public who saw or have information about this incident are asked to come forward and help the investigation by contacting the Investigating Officer of the case, Assistant Superintendent Puteri Noor Asiah Mohd Sharif at 012-6718024 or IPD Gombak at 03-61262222.
