Dr Mahathir demands that Anwar withdraw his statement within 7 days

PUTRAJAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has given Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim seven days to retract the statement made by the Prime Minister at the recent PKR Special National Congress, which was allegedly defamed against him.

Dr Mahathir said that the notice of demand was handed over by hand at the Prime Minister's office here, yesterday.

"I gave seven days for him (Anwar) to withdraw his statement or show evidence and do some events to show that he does not believe what was said.

"But if there is no answer within seven days, then I am free to take other actions that are allowed by law," he said in a press conference here today.
