SHAH ALAM, July 26 -- Selangor police today received 35 units of Toyota Hilux Single CAB 2.4-type GS Cargo four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicles to be distributed to each district police headquarters (IPD) in the state.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said the vehicle, which could accommodate 10 personnel for a single assignment, was suitable for implementing roadblocks, light strike force (LSF), carrying bodies, transporting goods and others.

He said Selangor was the first police contingent to receive the 4WD vehicle, which is larger in size compared to the current model owned by the police.

“Actually, we procured 400 GS Cargo four-wheel drive vehicles for all police contingents. For the Selangor contingent, we are supplying more (than other states), with 35, because it is the biggest contingent and has many districts.

“In two weeks’ time, hopefully, the handing over of these GS cargo four-wheel drive vehicles will be done at the Kuala Lumpur Contingent to facilitate police operations in the Klang Valley,” he told Bernama and RTM at the Selangor Police Headquarters after the ceremony to hand over the vehicles today.

Mazlan said that, so far, Selangor had received 37 vehicles since last year for use at the district police headquarters and police stations, including 18 Hino model lorries, three Toyota Hilux D/C 2.8 Black EDI 4WD vehicles and two Toyota Triton 2.4 VG Premium 4WD vehicles.
