KUALA LUMPUR , July 23 -- The Raja Bot Market or Chow Kit Market here will be closed for seven days from tomorrow until July 30 for the purpose of sanitisation.
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) through a notice posted on its Facebook page, said that during the closure, no business activities would be carried out at the market.
"DBKL will take enforcement action against any party who fails to comply with the directive," according to the notice.
Pudu Market is also closed for seven days from today until July 29 for sanitisation.
In PENANG, the Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) temporarily closed its branch office in Jalan Betek, Bukit Mertajam from today until July 28 or to a later date due to positive COVID-19 cases detected in the building.
Mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud said MBSP had received a closure notice from the Seberang Perai Tengah District Health Office after 17 enforcement staff at the branch office tested positive for COVID-19.
"The branch office has a total of 398 staff from the enforcement and veterinary divisions of MBSP, out of whom, 17 were infected with COVID-19, so we took the immediate step of temporarily closing it to curb the spread of the virus.
"Sanitisation was also carried out at the office while the infected staff and close contacts have been instructed to undergo quarantine," he said when contacted today.
Members of the public who want to deal with MBSP can go to the MBSP office in Perda or to its website at www.mbsp.gov.my.
Rozali assured that the services would not be disrupted by the closure of the branch office as MBSP had a contingency plan to mobilise its crisis management teams for emergency assistance.
