Kuala Lumpur: A man who allegedly cursed and scolded nasi lemak sellers after being reprimanded for not wearing a face mask was arrested by the police last night.
Brickfields District Deputy Chief of Police, Superintendent Basri Sagoni said the man was arrested at his house located near the nasi lemak stall in Taman Desa, here.
“Police arrested the man at about 8pm, following a police report made by the complainant and a video that spread on social media.
"He was remanded for two days starting today until tomorrow to assist in further investigations," he told reporters today.
He said the case was investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for making criminal threats and Regulation 17 (1) of the Infectious Diseases Prevention and Control Regulations (PPPPB) 2021.
In the 10.30am incident yesterday, the man who is also a customer of the nasi lemak stall was said to have scolded and cursed the trader and another customer when reprimanded for not complying with standard operating procedures (SOP) for not wearing a face mask.
The incident was recorded by a woman using a mobile phone and sharing the recording to the complainant.
The 29 -second recording also spread on social media.

KUALA LUMPUR: Polis telah menerima laporan susulan video tular di media sosial, memaparkan seorang lelaki tempatan memaki hamun peniaga nasi lemak dan anak perempuannya serta pelanggan lain di sebuah gerai di Jalan Desa Bakti, di sini, hari ini.
Timbalan Ketua Polis Daerah Brickfields Supt Basri Sagoni berkata, pihaknya menerima laporan polis itu daripada anak peniaga gerai makanan terbabit, pada kira-kira 3.40 petang tadi.
Beliau berkata kejadian dipercayai berlaku pada 10.30 pagi tadi, semasa kedua-dua anak beranak itu sedang berniaga dan ia sempat dirakam seorang wanita tempatan menggunakan telefon bimbitnya, yang kemudiannya berkongsi dengan pengadu.
"Suspek dalam video ini dilihat memarahi dan memaki hamun ibu pengadu dan seorang pelanggan lain, apabila ditegur kerana tidak memakai pelitup muka di tempat awam," katanya dalam kenyataan hari ini.
Basri berkata, kes ini disiasat di bawah Seksyen 506 Kanun Keseksaan kerana melakukan ugutan jenayah dan Peraturan 17 Langkah-Langkah Di Dalam Kawasan Tempatan Jangkitan Pelan Pemulihan Negara 2021, kerana melanggar prosedur operasi standard.
"Orang awam dinasihatkan untuk tidak membuat sebarang spekulasi berkaitan video tular ini, kerana dibimbangi akan mewujudkan kegusaran masyarakat dan hendaklah mematuhi semua peraturan yang telah ditetapkan," katanya.
Beliau turut meminta orang awam yang mempunyai maklumat berkaitan kes itu atau maklumat lain mengenai jenayah supaya menyalurkannya kepada Hotline Polis Brickfields di talian 03-2297 9222, Hotline Polis Kuala Lumpur di talian 03-2115 9999 atau mana-mana Balai Polis yang berdekatan.
