PETALING JAYA: With only a bag of chips and RM1 note, a seemingly unwell elderly man looked confused after he was abandoned by a person, believed to be his child, by the roadside.
Based on a Facebook post by user NorShuhada Shuib, the man was left behind in Napoh, Jitra, Kedah around 4.30pm on Wednesday (Jan 8).
The post, making its rounds on social media, stated that the man, who was walking with a cane, appeared to be confused and scared after he was left there by someone in a grey car.
"The man was walking around looking for his child. A lady who was operating her business in front of my house witnessed the incident.
"He was asking if the lady had seen the car earlier. The lady then replied, saying that the car had left.
"He then asked where the car was headed, adding that the driver of the car was his child," Norshuhada said on Facebook.
After she was informed by the lady, only known as "Kakak" over the matter, she went after the man in her car and invited him inside.
Norshuhada said she couldn't figure out what actually happened as the man couldn't remember much about himself or his family.
"I asked his name, where he's from... he couldn't remember any of it. No identification card too, as it was apparently kept by his child.
"There was only RM1 in his pocket and he was holding a bag of chips," Norshuhada said.
She added that the man said he was from Penang.
"He wanted to walk back to Penang after he was left behind. Not sure about the actual story but hopefully it all works out for him."
Norshuhada said the man was not Malay but could be Chinese or Thai.
After buying the man a drink, she dropped him off at Jitra police station.
"If anybody knows or has any information in regards to this man, please contact the Jitra police station," she said.
