IGP: Nazri being probed under Sedition Act over Semenyih speech

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman is investigating Barisan Nasional secretary-general Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz in connection with his speech during his campaign rounds for the Semenyih by-election, says Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
The Inspector-General of Police said police are in the midst of completing the investigation under the Sedition Act.
“We are currently investigating the matter.The investigation papers will be handed over to the Deputy Public Prosecutor once the investigation is completed,” he told a press conference after attending the Federal Reserve Unit’s 63rd anniversary celebration on Tuesday (Feb 26).
The IGP was commenting on a police report made over Nazri’s speech in Beranang, Semenyih on Saturday (Feb 23) where he said that non-Malays should not question Malay privileges as the former also enjoys special privileges such as vernacular schools.
Nazri further claimed that a non-Malay AG would not be able to take an oath of office on the Quran before the King.
He later explained that a non-Malay AG may be biased against Malays.
