KUALA LUMPUR: A 16-year-old girl died after the vehicle she was in skidded and turned turtle in Jalan Sungai Besi.

Chin Xin Qi, a student of SMK Kepong, died on the spot after she was flung out while the driver and other passengers suffered multiple injuries in the 5am accident yesterday.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Zulkefly Yahya said the driver, Goh Kai Shen, 19, was believed to have lost control of the vehicle while driving along Jalan Sungai Besi towards the Seremban Highway.

“The vehicle skidded and overturned, flinging the driver and other passengers out onto the road.

“Chin, who was in seated at the back, died on the spot,” he said.

Her body has been sent to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for a post-mortem while Goh and the other passengers are being treated at Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

“We are investigating the matter further,” said ACP Zulkely, adding the case was classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.

In Ipoh, two friends on their way home were killed when their car collided with a four-wheel drive vehicle at the 16th kilometre of Jalan Teluk Intan-Hutan Melintang.

Teluk Intan OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Marzukhi Mohd Mokhtar said during the 4.10am incident, the two men aged 25 and 26 were heading towards Hutan Melintang from Teluk Intan.

“Initial investigation showed that the older man, who was driving, lost control of the car and swerved onto the opposite lane.

“The other vehicle, which was travelling from Sabak Bernam towards Teluk Intan, could not stop in time and crashed into the left side of the car,” he said.

The two friends, who were unemployed, died on the spot.

The other two men in the 4WD were sent to the Teluk Intan Hospital for outpatient treatment, said ACP Mohd Marzukhi.

He said the bodies had been sent to the hospital mortuary for a post-mortem, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for reckless driving.
