Womans Husband Attacks Grab Driver After She Accuses Him of Rape

JASIN: A Grab driver sustained injuries when he was attacked by the husband of one of his passengers for allegedly raping her in Taman Kesidang early this month.
Melaka Tengah police district chief, ACP Afzanizar Ahmad said the incident took place at about 10.30pm as the 23-year-old driver dropped the assailant’s wife at their home.
He said following the incident, police reports were lodged by the driver and passenger, aged 30.
He said preliminary investigation revealed that the woman had used the Grab e-hailing service to get to her house in Taman Kesidang from Melaka Sentral bus terminal.
“The woman who fell asleep (in the car), alleged to have only realised that she was raped when she woke up, but did not fight back.
“On her way home, the victim sent a mobile text to her husband saying that she was ‘disturbed’ by the Grab driver,” he said when met at the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration at Jasin police district headquarters last night.

Afzanizar said the driver was attacked by the passenger’s husband, who was armed with a steel rod, upon arriving at the couple’s home.
“A fight ensued and as a result, the Grab driver sustained injuries on the back of his head and right arm. The woman’s husband, aged 31, and the driver were arrested to facilitate police investigation under Section 376 and Section 324 of the Penal Code.
“Urine tests on the woman’s husband turned out positive. Checks also revealed that he has a criminal record of three drug-related offences,” he said.
Also present were Melaka police chief, Datuk Abdul Jalil Hassan and Jasin police district chief, DSP Arshad Abu.
