NILAI: Armed intruders broke into the residence of former Felda chairman Tan Sri Isa Samad (pic) in Nilai Springs Heights near here and escaped with cash and valuables worth almost RM15,000.

State police chief DCP Noor Azam Jamaluddin said three men, believed to be foreigners, entered the double-storey house early Wednesday (July 25) and tied up two adults before ransacking the house.

He said police were notified of the robbery by a security guard at the gated community around 4.50am.

"The victims said the robbers were wearing masks and armed with parang (machetes) and knives.

It is understood that Isa, who was also former Federal Territories Minister, was not at home when the incident happened.

The victims lost RM5,700 in cash, RM6,200 worth of jewellery and three watches worth RM3,000.

DCP Noor Azam said the robbers entered through a window at the back of the house.

"There was a guard on duty at the house but he was asleep when the robbers struck," he said.

He said the house was equipped with a CCTV system, but it was faulty.
