14-year-old allegedly gang-raped in Terengganu

JERTIH: A 14-year-old was allegedly gang-raped by her boyfriend and his friends at a house in Taman Seri Bayu, Kuala Besut, here.
In the incident which was said to have taken place on July 20, the victim from Bachok, Kelantan was contacted by her boyfriend at about 2.15am while she was at a house in Kampung Telaga Papan, Pasir Puteh, Kelantan.
Besut district police chief Supt Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi said the boyfriend asked her to go out sightseeing, afterwhich she agreed and followed him on his motorcycle.
The boyfriend then took her to a house in Taman Seri Bayu before he was alleged to have raped her with some male friends.
"After the rape, the victim was abandoned at the Tok Bali bridge area in Pasir Puteh and she found her way back to her house in Kelantan, weak and in pain," he said when contacted by NSTP today.
He informed that the victim then lodged a report at the Cherang Ruku police station at 3.30pm on July 22 for further action, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 376B of the Penal Code for rape.
"The victim was taken to the Raja Perempuan Zainab Hospital in Kota Bharu, Kelantan for a check-up and doctors confirmed there is a fresh tear on her genitals," he said.
Acting on the police report, Mohd Zamri said police arrested the 17-year-old boyfriend at a house in Kampung Telaga Papan in Cherang Ruku at 2am on Monday.
"Investigation found that the suspect holds a past record under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act and is now being remanded at the Besut district police headquarters lockup," he said.
A second suspect who is a form five student was also detained at a house in Jalan Tok Bali, Semerak on Wednesday.
"Police are looking for two more suspects who are believed to be in hiding to assist in investigations," he said. © New Straits Times Press
