KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia have qualified for their sixth AFF Under-19 final.

And Bojan Hodak’s boys played exceptionally well to edge Indonesia 3-2 in a penalty shootout in a tense semi-final match at the Gelora Delta Stadium in Sidoarjo, Indonesia on Thursday night.

Goalkeeper Muhammad Azri was the hero for Malaysia by saving two of the penalty kicks.

Indonesia, who won the Cup in 2013, started off well by taking the lead as early as the second minute through Egy Maulana Vikri.

Indonesia played a physical game but Malaysia players kept their cool. The hosts created a number of chances but Malaysia defended well.

There was no extra time played and the match was decided on penalty kicks.

R. Shivan Pillay, Nabil Hakim and Nik Akif Syahiran scored from the spot while Muhamad Luthfi Kamal Baharsyah and Todd Rivaldo Ferre scored the penalty kicks for Indonesia.

Malaysia, who have yet to lift the silverware, will face Myanmar in the final on Sunday.

Myanmar edged Thailand 1-0 in the first semi-final match.

Win Naing Tun was the hero for scoring the solitary goal in the 86th minute of the match.

Malaysia have the psychological advantage going into the final as they have beaten Myanmar 1-0 in the group fixtures.

Malaysia have been runners-up in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and last year.
