Ampang teacher nabbed over molest allegation

AMPANG: A teacher of a primary school in the district, was arrested this afternoon following allegation of having molested a student.
Selangor Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmad said the 53-year-old teacher was picked up at 2pm.
“Police received a report from the victim’s mother on June 14. It is learnt that the report was made for the purpose of record and to forward the case to the district education office.
“We opened an investigation paper after we received the report for further action. However, there is no progress in the discussions between the related parties.
“Early this month, we recorded the statement of the teacher and investigated his background before we made the arrest today,” he said when contacted.
Fadzil said checks found that a report was lodged against the suspect a few years ago for the same offence.
“It is learnt that no further action was taken regarding the report made in Kajang and the suspect was then transferred to the school in Ampang.
“Police will obtain a remand order against the teacher to facilitate investigation under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Crimes Against Children Act 2017,” he said.
In the incident which allegedly took place in May this year, a 10-year-old victim was said to have been asked by the suspect to enter the co-curricular room of the school to assist in recording marks.
However, when the victim was in the room, the teacher had pulled the victim’s hand roughly and forced her to sit on his lap, before touching her thigh, chest and private part.
It was said that three other students were also in the room at the time and had witnessed what transpired.
The victim’s mother lodged a police report in June after being informed of what had happened by her daughter.
It is learnt that several other students had come forward informing they had also been molested by the same teacher.
Earlier today, when asked for updates on the case, Fadzil informed that the matter was still under investigation, stating that there had been developments.

"Cikgu" mengajak dia ke bilik tersebut dengan alasan untuk membantu "cikgu" merekod markah. Namun dalam bilik itu, "cikgu" menarik tangan anak K dengan keras supaya dia duduk di atas ribaan peha "cikgu", lalu "cikgu" memegang dada dan bahagian sulitnya. Sekolah menyimpan senarai nama murid yang telah menjadi mangsa dan telah membuat pengakuan, tetapi sekolah tidak memaklumkan para ibu bapa tentang apa yang telah terjadi ke atas anak-anak mereka. USAHA-USAHA TINDAKAN RASMI TELAH DIBUAT, MENGAPA MASIH PERLU TULARKAN ISU INI?
1) Supaya sekolah dan PPD lebih proaktif, tidak menyembunyi, mendiam, atau memperlahankan kes seperti ini.
2) Supaya kementerian yang berkaitan akan memastikan tiada lagi 'lubang' dalam sistem yang membenarkan "cikgu" begini terlepas berkali-kali.
3) Supaya para ibu bapa tahu tentang kes ini dan perkara-perkara yang mungkin disorokkan oleh sekolah dari pengetahuan mereka, sedangkan mereka patut dimaklumkan tentang apa yang telah terjadi ke atas anak-anak mereka. (Guru Besar dan PK HEM asyik menyebut bahawa mereka takut diserang oleh ibu bapa mangsa-mangsa.)
4) Guru Besar meminta K untuk bersemuka dengan "cikgu" dan selesaikan masalah antara mereka di situ saja.
5) Guru Besar menggesa anak K untuk pergi ke sekolah seperti biasa (despite feeling traumatized, ashamed, disturbed, and scared), walaupun "cikgu" itu juga ke sekolah hari-hari seperti biasa (maybe not teaching, just working in the office, but still, free on police bail). Anak K diberitahu- "takpa, kalau terserempak dengan cikgu tu jangan pandang."
Truthfully, she doesn't need to look. The thought of being in the same building with her molester, almost every single day, is already very depressing. Have we failed our kids?

Bagi mewakili K, saya ucapkan terima kasih kepada semua atas perhatian, sokongan, nasihat, dan pelbagai bentuk / saluran bantuan yang telah ditawarkan buat kami. We are overwhelmed by the love and kindness shown by Malaysians. Alhamdulillah ramai yang setuju, dan ada juga yang tidak; yang "pm tepi" dan berkeras isu ini harus dirahsiakan.
I wrote the status update above as requested and approved by K who is an advocate and solicitor herself. Nama beliau dan nama sekolah dinyatakan atas permintaan dan kelulusan beliau sendiri. Beliau berkeputusan merahsiakan nama "cikgu" untuk elak defamation. I am just a medium, just helping out a friend, as K believes I may have a bigger platform here on social media in order to shed light on this case, and to encourage the school (dan pihak lain yang terlibat) to be more proactive; lebih telus dan jujur. InsyaAllah.
Both sexual harassment and sexual assault happened but the word "sexual harassment" is used here, kerana isu ini tidak melibatkan kes anak K saja, tetapi kes murid-murid yang lain juga. In general, as a whole, the word "sexual harassment" covers and sums all cases better.
Saya juga pernah menjadi seorang pensyarah dalam sektor kerajaan dan hingga ke hari ini masih mengajar dalam pelbagai cara. Perkongsian dan pendedahan ini bukan tanda saya atau K memalukan institusi pendidikan. Yang memalukan profesion perguruan itu adalah mereka yang telah pecah amanah dan pecah kepercayaan.
Mudah-mudahan kami tidak terus disalah faham tetapi kalau iya pun, tak apalah, jika itu harga yang perlu dibayar untuk menyedarkan rakyat Malaysia bahawa kes sebegini masih wujud. I wouldn't agree to spread this awareness if I don't love / care about our children and our country. Wallahu a'lam.
