The car wash operators use items such as chairs, tyres and rubbish bins to illegally reserve parking bays outside their centres.

RESIDENTS and shopowners in Taman Serdang Perdana Section 2, Seri Kembangan, are up in arms over four car wash centres taking up public parking bays in the area.

They say four car wash operators have occupied most of the parking spots along Persiaran Serdang Perdana, Jalan SP 2/5 and Jalan SP 2/6, causing inconvenience to visitors.

Serdang MCA Youth deputy chief Chang Toong Wah said the car wash centres had been operating for more than three years and would illegally reserve the parking space using chairs, tyres and rubbish bins.

“The water gushing out from the businesses also poses a danger to road users and has affected other shopowners in the vicinity

During a site visit, StarMetro noticed that one of the car wash operators had set up a few tents occupying more than 10 parking bays, and there was stagnant water on the road.

Also present at the press conference were Seri Kembangan Federal Village Security and Development Committee (JKKKP) representative Tang Kim Loy and MIC representative Datuk S.M. Muthu.

Upon receiving complaints from shopowners, Chang and Tang used the Subang Jaya Municipal Council’s (MPSJ) e-aduan site to lodge a complaint on Jan 6.

According to them, MPSJ replied that it had issued compound notices to the operators of the car wash centres.

Unfortunately, the operators failed to abide by the notices and even expanded their businesses.

Chang urged MPSJ to give the matter urgent attention and take immediate action to resolve it.

“Sending out compound notices is only the first step. As for the second step, the authorities should take up their responsibility to monitor the situation.

“I hope they will take action against the car wash operators as Serdang Perdana is a popular commercial centre in Seri Kembangan, with a lot of businesses in the area,” he added.
