No proof of seller charging ‘RM80’ for economy meal
BUKIT MERTAJAM: The “RM80 economy rice” seller has learned his lesson about price displays.
Seberang Prai Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry enforcement officials checked on his stall and found he did not display a price list.
He was fined RM100 yesterday for the offence.
However, the ministry’s Seberang Prai deputy chief Mohammad Azizan Md Rashid said enforcers found no evidence that he overcharged any customers.
“The plates shown in the social media photos are also different from the seller’s plates and there was no receipt,” he said.
A woman, known only as Lim from Kulim, Kedah, posted on social media that she was charged RM80 by the seller on Sunday for two pieces of stingray in a curry, a bowl of curry with long beans, tau pok with cockles, a plate of bean sprouts, a plate of coagulated pig’s blood and two plates of white rice.
