Armed robbers steal RM800,000 from security guards refilling ATM

KUALA LUMPUR: Four armed suspects robbed security guards just as they were about to fill an ATM with RM800,000 cash at a petrol station at Bukit Antarabangsa here.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Hamzah Alias said the incident occurred at around 5pm on Wednesday.
"The four guards went to the ATM at a Petronas petrol station here and were about to refill it with cash when four men approached them on two motorcycles.
"One of the suspects armed with a pistol fired a warning shot in the air and disarmed the guard holding a shotgun.
"They forced the guards to hand over two bags containing the cash which was in the van," he told reporters when contacted on Wednesday.
He said one of the guards was hit on the head with the shotgun.
"The suspects fled the scene after grabbing the money and tossed the shotgun by the side of the road.
"The guard received outpatient treatment at the Ampang Hospital," he said, adding that the case was being investigated as voluntarily causing hurt in an armed robbery under Section 394 of the Penal Code and Section 3 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act.
He said the suspects used two blue Yamaha 125Z motorcycles and were wearing gloves and helmets with tinted visors.
ACP Hamzah urged anyone with information on the case to contact the police hotline at 03-2052 9999 or visit the nearest police station.
