KUALA LUMPUR: About 8,000 police personnel would be on duty to ensure the upcoming SEA Games will run smoothly, said Bukit Aman.

Its Internal Security and Public Order Department director Comm Datuk Seri Zulkifli Abdullah said this is to ensure the safety of all those attending and competing at the event.
"I am satisfied at the preparations that have been carried out by city police.
"We will be deploying 8,000 police personnel, temporarily reassigned from other states, to not only ensure security, but also make sure everything runs smoothly like traffic and helping tourists," he said while visiting the Bukit Jalil Stadium to check on the preparations on Monday.
He added that the reputation of the country and PDRM rests on how the games are run and perceived by the world.
"That is why we have put up a lot of effort and time into preparations and making sure that everything will go as planned," he said.
The SEA Games will be held from Aug 19-30.
