Woman arrested over Facebook post insulting Agong
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a Facebook account holder for allegedly insulting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on her social website recently.
This was confirmed by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar via his official Twittter page Wednesday.
He said the account holder was arrested by the Kuala Lumpur police Criminal Investigation Department and he congratulated them for their action.
The Facebook account holder allegedly uploaded a picture of the Agong, Sultan Muhammad V, which had been disrespectfully edited and carrying a Selamat Hari Raya greeting on June 25, the first day of Aidilfitri.
However, it is understood that the alleged individual, through her social website, on July 1 denied that she had insulted Sultan Muhammad V, besides lodging a report to the police and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission. - Bernama
