PETALING JAYA: Close to 200 foreign workers were nabbed in raids conducted by the Immigration Department in Kuala Lumpur and Sepang.
The seven-hour operation, which was divided into two phases, commenced at 10pm on Sunday, targeting eateries and entertainment outlets.
A construction site dormitory in Sepang was also raided.
Immigration Department division chief for Enforcement, Investigation and Prosecution Saravana Kumar said 196 foreign workers had been apprehended for various offences in the raids.
Enforcement agents used unmarked cars to get close to the locations before storming the premises.
While there were several attempts at escape, none were successful.
During a raid in a club near Pudu, many suspects didn't even have time to put on their shoes before being hauled into waiting vans and trucks.
