Burglar who raped Klang housewife nabbed on Tuesday, gang crippled
KLANG: Police on Tuesday arrested a burglar and rapist who had been terrorrising female victims in the district since early this year.
The 27-year-old Indonesian man, an illegal immigrant, was picked up in a special police operation near the Shapadu Toll Plaza at 4.30pm.
He is part of a gang of burglars believed to be responsible for at least four burglary cases in Klang and one in Taman Melawati this year.
Klang Utara police chief Assistant Commissioner Yusoff Mamat said the special operation was launched against the gang, dubbed 'Indonesian Ballbearing Robbers', following a robbery-cum-rape case in Kampung Rantau Panjang near here last week.
The gang was called such because the main suspect, according to his victim, had ballbearing implanted in his privates.
Yusoff said the first arrest was made on two Indonesian men in Gombak and Taman Medan, Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.
Following that, a team of policemen from the district's Serious Crimes Division (D9) managed to tracked down three main suspects, including the burglar-rapist, at the toll plaza.
"Initial investigations showed the main suspect was also responsible for molesting a woman in her early 20s during a break-in at a house in Meru on May 27.
"Luckily, the victim's mother managed to fight him off and stopped him from raping her daughter.
"We are also checking with our counterparts if they are involved in other cases," he told a press conference at the district police headquarters, here today.
Yusoff urged victims who had been robbed and sexually assaulted by the suspect to come forward and assist police in their investigations.
