Myanmar Maid Jumps To Her Death From The 18th Floor
In a shocking video that went viral yesterday, a Myanmar maid is recorded on camera jumping to her death.
In the video, the female Myanmar domestic help committed suicide on Monday by jumping out from the 18th floor of the Interlace Condo located at Depot Road in Singapore.
The Myanmar Times reported that the cause and trigger to her suicide is still unknown, according to a Myanmar embassy official.
The Myanmar embassy however confirmed the girl's identitiy as Ma Zin Mar Oo, aged 25 and was a Myo ethnich from the Rakhine region.
She worked as a maid for an Indian family at the condominium for the last eight months, and had a work permit from the Singapore Govenrment.
Ma Khin Lay, a member of the Singapore based Humanitarian Organization for Migrations and Economics (HOME), said that Ma Zin Mar Oo died immediately at the scene after sustaining serious head injuries due to her fall.
Along with the video of her falling to her death, another video of her on the ledge of the condominium has also gone viral.
In the second video, Ma Zin Mar Oo is seen sitting on the ledge of the condominium, while another lady tries to persuade her from jumping.
However, she failed and Ma Zin Mar Oo jumped to her death.
Singaporeans has had history of maid abuse before, with a recent case of another Myanmar maid jumping from the 9th floor of a condominium coming to mind.
The Myanmar government has banned the sending of domestic workers to Singapore since 2014.
