Following a video that went viral of a police officer being beaten by a man said to be an MACC officer, MACC Have Denied Involvement

MACC: Don't cause rift with police

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is concerned that some parties are seeking to tarnish the image of the agency and drive a wedge between MACC and the police.

This follows after a video has been circulating on social media of a police officer being beaten by a man said to be an MACC officer.

MACC deputy commissioner of operations Datuk Azam Baki denied the involvement of the agency.

"MACC is concerned that some parties are trying to tarnish the image of MACC in the eyes of society, and seems to be trying to drive a wedge between MACC and the police," said Azam in a statement on Thursday.

He said that the Commission had lodged a police report in Johor Baru.

Azam also urged the public not to spread the video in question, as it could cause confusion.

The 39-second video shows an MACC officer allegedly detaining a police officer at a petrol station in Johor.
