Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has ordered the launch of Op Cantas 2.0 due to the escalating number of violent crime cases in the country.
Subsequently, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim announced the merging of three elite police teams as part of an effort to eliminate gangsterism in the country. Op Cantas 2.0, was launched last Saturday
The three teams involved are the Special Task Force On Organised Crime (STAFOC), Special Task Force for Anti-vice, Gaming and Gangsterism (STAGG) and Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotics Group (STING).
