Manhunt on for 5 Gang Members in Shah Alam involved in Shooting and Assault Case in Ken Rimba Section 16

Three gang members arrested over Shah Alam shooting, assault case

SHAH ALAM: Police have arrested three men who are prime suspects in Saturday’s shooting and assault case in Ken Rimba, Section 16.

The trio are believed to be gang members and have multiple records related to drugs and violent crimes.

Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Shafien Mamat said two of them, aged 25 and 20, were arrest a couple of hours after the incident on Saturday.

The remaining suspect, a 53-year-old, was detained at 3am today.

Shafien said they are looking into the possibility that the men belong to a gang active in Klang.

“We are tracking down five other suspects who are also members of the gang. A special team led by the Shah Alam district CID chief is hunting them down," Shafien told a press conference at the district police headquarters today.

Shafien said the incident started when a resident at a block of flats spotted a man stealing a motorcycle in the housing area.

The resident and several others gave chase along Jalan Sungai Rasau but turned back when they ran into a group of men, who are members of the trio's gang.

"In retaliation, the trio's gang, a group of four, went back to the flats armed with parang and a pistol.

“Three residents, aged 53, 63 and 22 were injured. One was shot at his waist, one slashed on his head while another suffered injuries on his right leg as he was rammed into when the suspects fled the scene.

"The victims are in stable condition and receiving treatment at the Shah Alam Hospital and Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital,” he said, adding that one of the victims has been discharged from hospital.

Following the arrest of the trio, Shafien said his men recovered two parang, a car as well as two motorcycles believed to have been stolen and used in the crimes.

One of the motorcycles, he added, was earlier spotted at a murder scene in Bukit Raja two weeks ago.

Shafien said there were no racial elements in the case as claimed on social media, adding that it was a clear cut robbery.
