IPOH: A 43-year-old woman was charged with two counts of supporting Islamic State activities in a Magistrate’s court here Thursday.

Zilah Tahuddin, a former security guard, was escorted by three police officers when she arrived at the court at about 8.30am.

Her family members were weeping when the charges were read to Zilah.

Zilah was accused of encouraging and supporting the militant activities via messaging platform Telegram at her house in Jalan Dato Ahmad Said here on July 18.

Magistrate Suhaima Mohd Noor set Sept 20 for trial. Deputy public prosecutor Fadhli Ab Wahab said he would apply for the case to be transferred to the Kuala Lumpur High Court.Zilah is faced with a jail term not exceeding 30 years and or fine and forfeiture of any of her property used or intended to be used in connection with the commission of the offence.
