The suspect allegedly behind the brutal shootings of 4 persons in a chicken processing factory in Batu Maung has been shot dead by police


Police have cordoned off the area where the suspect was shot.

GEORGE TOWN: The suspect allegedly behind the brutal shootings in a chicken processing factory in Batu Maung has been shot dead by police in Air Itam near here Thursday.

The suspect, Chung Chun Wah, 32, was shot in front of a souvenir shop near the Kek Lok Si temple at around 7pm.

Chung was believed to have fled to Bukit Mertajam after he allegedly shot his mother Tan Saw Sim, 55; brother Chung Wah Thong, 28, his two-year-old nephew Ayden and Tan's boyfriend Toh Hock Choon, 50, with a 9mm semi-automatic pistol at around 2.45am on Wednesday.

It was learnt that he later went back to Penang Island with the help of a friend and hid near the Kek Lok Si temple.

Penang police received a tip-off and acted to take the suspect down.
