RM3000 Fine Only For Man in Possession of explosive material, impersonating a policeman while trying to enter the Federal Police Headquarters

KUALA LUMPUR: A jobless man was fined RM3,000 after he pleaded guilty in a magistrate's court here Friday to possession of explosive material and impersonating a policeman.

Mohd Amar Kamarul Zaman, 30, was fined RM500 in default a month's jail for having the explosive material.

Magistrate Mahyudin Mohmad Som also fined him RM2,500 in default three months' jail for impersonating a policeman at Gate A of the federal police headquarters in Jalan Bukit Aman here at about 10pm on Tuesday.

In pleading for leniency, Mohd Amar, who was unrepresented, said he was jobless and has to support his mother who retired recently.


DPP Nur Farah Adilah Noordin urged the court to mete out a deterrent sentence to serve as a lesson to the accused and others.
