Police take swift action against motorists who cut queues
PETALING JAYA: Motorists who cut queue on the KL-Seremban Highway had swift action taken against them in an operation by traffic police on Monday.
Kuala Lumpur traffic police, led by enforcement and operations officer Asst Supt Leonard Lawrence, conducted the operation along the busy highway from 5.30pm to 7.45pm as part of Ops Selamat.
The operation saw police aiming for road users misusing the emergency lane and those cutting queues.
Both offences were among several highlighted under the current Ops Selamat.
“We issued 52 summonses in today's operation.
"This operation will be conducted from time to time. Hopefully, it will remind road users to obey the law,” said ASP Leonard.
Earlier, a similar operation at Jalan Tun Razak saw 46 summonses being issued.
During the operation, two foreigners in a car were stopped for misusing the emergency lane.
Upon inspection, police found that the two did not have valid documents, so they were taken to the police station.
The latest round of Ops Selamat runs until Wednesday.
