Indonesian woman loses leg in expressway accident

GEORGE TOWN: An Indonesian woman’s leg was severed after she was hit by a motorcycle as she was crossing the road along the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the 44-year-old woman’s leg was caught between the wheel of the bike during the 1.40am incident near Macallum Street yesterday.
“She was dragged by the motorcycle and her leg was severed below the knee,” he said.
The motorcyclist fled the scene and left behind his Kawasaki bike after the mishap.
ACP Mior said the victim, who was still conscious, was rushed to the Penang Hospital.
“There was no CCTV at the scene. We’re now trying to track down the motorcyclist,” said ACP Mior when met yesterday.
