RM754,000 RTD robbery: Female Rela member arrested

KUALA LUMPUR: A female member of the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) has been detained to facilitate investigations into a RM754,000 robbery at the office counter of the Kuala Lumpur Road Transport Department (RTD) yesterday.
The 41-year-old suspect, who works at the RTD office in Jalan Genting Kelang, Setapak here, has been remanded for two days, beginning today.
Kuala Lumpur CID Chief SAC Rusdi Mohd Isa said today the woman was picked up shortly after giving a statement at the Setapak police station here last night.
In the 5.40pm incident yesterday, two men armed with machetes carted away about RM754,000 from the RTD office.
The two suspects wearing crash helmets entered the office using the rear door before seizing the money from the counter of the revenue unit room.
