Situated at the heart of Kuala Lumpur, just beside the KL Tower which is the tallest tower in South East Asia is Pacific Regency Hotel Suites, a 5 star all Suite Hotel.

They had a "Jom Berbuka at Pacific Regency" preview for their corporate ents and media recently  It was a preview of their offerings for the breaking of fast "buka puasa" during the holy month of Ramadan from 8th June 2016 to 4th July 2016.

The event was held at Soi 23, situated on Level 23 of the hotel giving you a great view of the skyline. The fine dining restaurant  that usually serves Thai cuisine, will serve authentic Malay food inspired by Chef Zairul's mother's recipe's during the promotion period.

For this year's holy month of Ramadan, Soi 23 is offering "Jom Berbuka" wIth over 100 selections. Since it's customary to break fast with something sweet, Soi 23 has prepared some Juicy Kurma and Sirap Selasih.

They have quite a good selection of  appetisers such as Jemput Jemput, Bonzer Dato Keramat and Pass & Sembor Kuala Hangit. They had a wide array of Ulam's and Sambal to accompany your dishes.

Some of their hot dishes included Kambing Masak Kurma Kentang, Ayam Masak Lemak, Daud Cekor, Ikan Tenggiri Gulai Kampung and Udang Sambal Petai.

They has an "Action Station" serving choices of ikan Bakar and Kambing Golek with Briyani Pak Arab.

Their Lemang and Rendang Pak Ali was a major hit

There was a noodle section which was quit popular

The Japanese stall offered some basic Japanese sushi.

They had a Ais Kacang section

Rojak Buah  stall with quite a few condiments.

The Deserts section included had a bit of everything traditional from  Bubur Pengat Pisang, Bubur Kacang Hijau dengan Durian to an array of Malay Traditional Pastries.

A nice unique additional touch was the sharing of Chef Zairul's recipe for some of the hot dishes. This will surely be of interest to those who want to replicate these dishes by cooking them at home. The Recipe's that was shared included Ekor Lembu Asam Pedas, Gulai Tempoyak Ikan Patin, Rendang Tok Wan Lasah,

The Verdict:

Overall The food was very tasty and full of flavour. The Beef rendang was really tasty. The Prawns were mouth wateringly huge and delicious. The roast lamb was full of flavour, The Satay was succulent and peanut sauce was not oily.  The Lemak and Rendang Pak Ali tasted as good as from the stall at MRR2. At the end of the evening the drinks still tasted good and not watered down. Overall Chef's Zairul fare tasted really good.

Don't expect to get the wide variety that the Mandarin Oriental or the Shangri-La hotels would offer, but judging from the preview yesterday you can expect great tasting food. Then again the price is almost half too! So It is certainly value for money.

Guest were given a warm welcome for the above preview by the Hotel General Manager Paul Cheah and his key management staff including Mr Edward Maria Dass, the F&B Manager. Mr. Cheah looked like one of the old skool GM's who understands hospitality, throughout the night he was seen going table to table to ensure that guest were well taken care off.

Priced at RM99.00 Nett for the whole period of the promotion from 8th June 2016 to 4th July 2016.  It is certainly one of the value for money promotions taking into account  you are right in the middle of the city in a 5 star hotel.
