PETALING JAYA: Comedian Harith Iskander and AirAsia chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes can be seen joking about “extra charges” in a hilarious viral video to promote the premiere of new talk show “Obviously Harith Iskander”.
The four-and-a-half minute video starts off with Harith waiting to pick Fernandes up at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) in his car.
“I’m here to pick up Tony Fernandes. He called me up earlier to say that he needed a lift to town … and I’m like … what a cheapskate! Anytime he needs help he gives me a call,” jokes Harith just before Fernandes hops in his car.
As they drive away from the airport, Harith starts putting “extra charges” on everything, from turning on music, to changing the temperature on the air-conditioning, and even the price of sitting in the back seat of the vehicle.
“Where do you get these charges from?” asks Fernandes to which Harith responds, “I don’t know. It’s this business concept. I’m thinking … you know … every time someone gets in my car, whatever they want I just charge them. Don’t know where it came from.”
The conversation then moves on to Harith’s new talk show.
The comedian asks Fernandes if he would like to features as a guest on the show and the two start discussing the topic and duration of the interview.
However, Harith quickly finds out that he will have to put up with an extra charge if the interview goes beyond four topics.
He also learns that he will be charged further if Fernandes is required to make jokes, smile or to talk for one hour.
“Hey, you know … it’s value for money,” says Fernandes.
The airline boss goes further to justify his charges by saying that there is reason and logic behind the charges.
“Just like that fantastic airline, there’s a logic. It’s democracy,” he says.
Harith then asks Fernandes for a friendship discount.
“You know, as you’re friend man, book it online at www.airasia.com. I’m sure there will be a cheaper price!” responds Fernandes.
The video was uploaded onto YouTube on Wednesday and has been viewed 48,000 times.
“Obviously Harith Iskander”, hosted by the comedian, is Malaysia’s first late-night talk show and is set to premiere on Saturday at 9.30pm on Astro Awani.
Ealier this month Harith posted another video of him being shown around Johor Baru by the Crown Prince of Johor, also in anticipation of the show’s premiere.
