Two-month old baby injured after attempted snatch theft

AMPANG JAYA: A traumatised mother had to live a parent’s worst nightmare after an assault by snatch thieves in front of her house in Taman Kencana caused her two-month-old daughter to fall to the ground.
A photo posted on the 28-year-old supervisor’s Facebook account showed that the baby suffered injuries to her face in the harrowing incident.
To make matters worse, the woman’s mother, who was also with them during the incident, also injured her head and body in the attack.
Based on her police report, the supervisor was about to leave for work when the assault occurred at around 8.15am Monday.
“I was already on the motorcycle and my mother was handing over my daughter to me.
“Two men on a motorcycle sped towards us and tried snatching away my mother’s necklace.
“A struggle ensued and my baby fell out of my arms in the scuffle. I screamed in shock,” the report read.
It was reported that the suspects fled the scene empty-handed.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Hamzah Alias confirmed the report, saying that the victim’s motorcycle had not been started yet during the incident.
“As the suspects tried robbing her, she fell to the ground and in a state of shock, accidentally dropped her child,” he added.
The case is being investigated under Section 393 for attempted robbery.
Footage of the incident, captured by surveillance camera at a nearby factory, has gone viral on social media.
