Man steals bag with S$900,000 (RM2.73mil) worth of casino chips at the Marina Bay Sands

RM2.7mil stolen in S’pore casino

     
    SINGAPORE: After he allegedly stole S$900,000 (RM2.73mil) worth of casino chips at the Marina Bay Sands here, a man has been charged in court.
    Jackson Yeoh, 24, was arrested in Malaysia with help from the Malaysian police and was handed over to the Singapore police on Wednesday, Channel NewsAsia reported.
    According to the report, a casino patron’s bag was stolen on Sept 2 last year.
    The black clutch bag, valued at S$1,000, contained a driving licence, a BMW car key, credit cards, S$10,000 (RM30,400) in cash, S$900,000 worth of casino chips and a Samsung mobile phone worth S$500 (RM1,521).
    The total value of the items stolen was S$911,500 (RM2.77mil), it said.
    The report said Yeoh was charged in court yesterday for theft. If convicted, he faces jail of up to three years, a fine, or both.
    Yeoh has been remanded for one week, with permission to take him out for investigations, the report said.
    He is next due in court on Jan 28. — Bernama
