Johor prince laid to rest

JOHOR BARU: Tunku Laksamana Johor Tunku Abdul Jalil Sultan Ibrahim was laid to rest at the Mahmoodiah Royal Mausoleum at 3.20pm on Sunday.

Earlier, the casket bearing Tunku Abdul Jalil was brought out of Istana Besar here after Zohor prayers at 1.20pm.

The coffin was carried by Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail as well as the prince’s other male siblings.

It was placed on the hearse, which was pulled by 30 Johor Military Force soldiers on foot to the Royal Mausoleum.

Sultan Ibrahim personally inspected the coffin before the procession started at 1.27pm.

Sultan Ibrahim and other members of the royal family also joined in the procession, followed by state dignitaries and members of the public.

It rained for about 10 minutes at around 12.50pm but Johoreans, who had earlier paid their last respects to the late prince, remained at the palace grounds to watch the procession.
