PETALING JAYA: With the excitement of Star Wars: The Force Awakens coming out, social media has been abuzz with images of a black stormtrooper wandering around KL.
The buzz has now heightened as the storm trooper has turned out to be an elegant lady.
In a seemingly bizarre juxtaposition, the individual clad in black stormtrooper armour from the Star Wars film franchise was caught walking around downtown KL engaging in seemingly day-to-day activities like taking public transit and browsing food stalls.
The black stormtrooper was photographed on Jalan Hang Lekir, riding the LRT, speaking with a policeman as well as enjoying a cup of the tarik at a mamak stall.
As it turned out, the imperial trooper was in fact a woman, seemingly a fan of the film out to turn heads as she went about her way.

PETALING JAYA: With the thrill of Star Wars: Force Awakens hitting the nation, the social media has an added buzz to it with images of a black stormtrooper wandering around KL.
In a seemingly bizarre juxtaposition, the black stormtrooper from the Star Warsfilm franchise was caught engaging in seemingly day-to-day Malaysian activities like taking public transport and having teh tarik at a mamak stall.
The social media buzz heightened when the stormtrooper turned out to be a young woman named Sandra Woo.
In a phone interview with The Star, the student and part-time model explained that the stunt, which actually occurred sometime last week, was a collaboration between photographer Vincent Paul Yong and the Malaysian promotion site Malaysia.my in anticipation of the new Star Wars film.“We actually did it for fun. We’re all really big fans of the movies.
“The idea was that we wanted to show the movies are as loved here in Malaysia as anywhere else,” said Sandra.
Asked how the people on the street had reacted to her in the costume, Sandra said that many people were curious about what was going on and even asked her what she was doing.
“They did gather around me. People wanted to take photos with me,” she said, adding that parents followed after her to try and get her to take photos with their children.
“It goes to show how popular it (the Star Wars franchise) is here and that Malaysians are big fans of the movie,” she said.
Asked if it was hot wearing the suit while going around in KL, Sandra answered with a resounding yes, stating that it was definitely hot.
However, despite donning the costume for hours, which proved how big a fan she was, Sandra has not watched the new Star Wars film though she plans to do so next week.
