Gangster shot dead at traffic lights
The victim was a Gang 04 member and was shot in the head, back and arm.
GEORGE TOWN: An Indian man was shot dead while he was travelling in his car along Scotland Road here last night.
The fatal incident happened about 9.30pm at a traffic light junction near the Turf Club in Batu Gantong Road.
Penang CID chief Mazlan Kesah, who was at the scene, told newsmen that the victim was shot more than five times and died instantly.
The victim was found shot in his head, back and arm.
Initial investigations revealed that the victim, in his 50s, was driving his car with his friend, in his 60s, seated next to him, when they stopped at a traffic light junction.
At this time, two men on a motorcycle approached the car and fired shots at the victim through the car door window and fled.
The victim’s friend escaped without injury.
Police sources claim that the victim was a Gang 04 member.
The victim and his friend were learnt to be heading to a temple when the fatal shooting took place.
Police did not rule out a turf war and revenge as among motives behind the killing.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
