KUALA LUMPUR: A police officer has been charged in a Sessions Court here with seducing a married woman.
Asst Supt Badarol Hisham Othman, 44, from the Police Training Centre (Pulapol), claimed trial yesterday to three counts of seducing the 43-year-old, knowing that she was a married woman, with the intention of having sex.
Badarol is alleged to have seduced her thrice – on March 6, April 29, and Oct 13, last year – at the Leo Express Hotel in Jalan Sungai Besi here.
Under Section 498 of the Penal Code for enticing, taking away or detaining with a criminal intent a married woman, Badarol faces up to two years imprisonment, a fine or both, if convicted.
Police acted after the woman’s 48-year-old husband lodged a report.
It is learnt that Badarol did not personally know the husband, who is a teacher.
Badarol was unrepresented while DPP Tan Siew Ping acted for the prosecution.
Judge Zulqarnain Hassan set bail at RM3,000 with one surety and fixed April 10 for next mention.
A similar case was heard in 2009, when corporate figure Choy Khin Ming was charged with enticing the then married TV presenter Daphne M. Iking.
Iking’s former husband, Ryan Chong Yiing Yih, had initiated a private summons against Choy over the alleged offence, which occurred when the couple were still married in 2007.
