MH17: Only 62 bodies in ‘good’ condition, says IGP

PETALING JAYA: Only 62 bodies were found in good condition at the MH17 crash site, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said.

Khalid was quoted as saying this in the PDRM’s Facebook page in an interview with a news channel.
He believed that the bodies of the victims that have yet to found were most likely strewn across the crash site.
Khalid said he hoped that the locals there would be able to help identify the areas where the remains could be found.
He added that although he had full confidence in the ability of the investigating teams at the site, it was still unclear as to when the probe would be completed.
“Every country has its own law and system. We do not have a choice. We have to respect the law and system of every country involved in this,” he said.
Khalid also expressed regret over the inability of the investigating team to enter the crash site as soon as they arrived in Ukraine.
He admitted that there was a possibility of tampering at the area as it was left unattended for too long after the tragedy.
Khalid, together with Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, left for Keiv on July 30 to hand over documents on behalf of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 plane was downed two weeks ago killing all 298 people on board.
The Boeing 777-200ER airliner lost contact near Hrabove in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine, about 50km from the Ukraine-Russia border.
