Angler found floating face down in mangrove swamp

PETALING JAYA: The search for a 30-year-old angler who fell into a river a few days ago came to a closure when he was found floating face down in a mangrove swamp.
Port Klang Fire and Rescue department chief Yusri Yusof confirmed that the deceased, identified as A.Mahendran was fishing on a hut overlooking the river in Telok Gong, Pandamaran when he fell into the water a few days ago.
"We received a distress call at around 6.40am on Thursday and a rescue mission soon ensued.
"Officers from the Port Klang Fire and Rescue department, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, marine police and the Civil Defence ministry have been looking for Mahendran since then," he said.
Yusri added that after more than 50 hours of searching, Mahendran's body was found at around 10.30am on Saturday in a mangrove swamp near the Teluk Nipah jetty in Pulau Indah here.
"His blue-clad body was found 4.6 nautical miles away from where he last fell.
"His body was sent to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR) for a post-mortem," he said.
