KUALA LUMPUR: Two fans had their long-cherished dreams realised when they met their screen idol Rajinikanth.
When the Tamil superstar and his convoy stopped at the traffic lights near Bukit Nenas here at 8am yesterday, E. Subash, 24, and N. Karthik Raja, 25, pulled up beside them and saw Rajinikanth and immediately called out to him.
To their surprise, “The Boss”, as the 64-year-old actor is known to his fans, wound down the window.
“Good morning!” Rajinikanth said to Karthik as the latter wished him well.
When the excited duo asked him about Malaysia, he replied: “Nice, nice.”
On Sunday, Subash and Karthik, who both work in a bank, had gone to the hotel where Rajinikanth was staying and waited several hours to catch a glimpse of him.
“At 6am, we finally saw him coming out to go for his shoot at Menara UOA. His vehicle was parked next to the lift, so he came out to meet his fans,” said Karthik, whose favourite Rajinikanth movie is Baasha.
Rajinikanth is in Kuala Lumpur to shoot his 159th film titled Kabali.
Fans thronged the Menara UOA area from the wee hours onwards to catch a glimpse of the man.
Hundreds of people cheered the actor and chanted “Thalaiva valge (Hail to the chief) and Kabali”.
Dressed in dark slacks and a shirt, Rajinikanth responded with a “hello” and waved to the crowd as he walked towards the filming spot at about 9.45am.
